Basketball Game Preview: Cordova Wolverines vs. Unalakleet Wolfpack

The Cordova Wolverines will take on the Unalakleet Wolfpack at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Cordova will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Cordova will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Petersburg, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Cordova snuck past Petersburg with a 26-20 victory on Friday. The 26-point effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Unalakleet faced Metlakatla in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Unalakleet sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Metlakatla. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolfpack have posted since January 10, 2024.

Unalakleet is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Cordova, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Cordova strolled past Unalakleet when the teams last played back in January of 2020 by a score of 59-43. Will Cordova repeat their success, or does Unalakleet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
