Volleyball Recap: Academy of Central Florida National Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Academy of Central Florida National had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Winter Springs Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Bulls of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Academy of Central Florida National started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-13, 26-24.

Leading Winter Springs to victory were Jaslene Martinez and Zen Cunningham. Martinez had 29 digs and five assists, while Cunningham had six kills and one block. Those five assists gave Martinez a new career-high.

The win got Winter Springs back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Academy of Central Florida National will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winter Springs, they will take on Trinity Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
