Soccer Game Preview: Burroughs vs. Sultana

Burroughs is 0-10 against Sultana since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Burroughs Burros will head out on the road to challenge the Sultana Sultans at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Burroughs will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Serrano, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Burroughs' defense stepped up to hand Serrano a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Burros were the better team in the second half.

Carson Ashley and Reagan Harper scored both of Burroughs' goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sultana). They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Apple Valley on Tuesday. Give the Sultans' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Sultana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven contests. As for Burroughs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9-2.

Burroughs came up short against Sultana in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Burroughs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
