Softball Recap: Pittsfield Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Pittsfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Macomb on Tuesday. The Saukees put the hurt on the Bombers with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Saukees have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lila Simon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

Simon wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Wombles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Pittsfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Pittsfield pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Macomb, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Pittsfield has already played their next match (against Seymour), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Macomb, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Beardstown on the 9th.
