Savannah Toukatly was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Tucker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Madyson Whitaker was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Steinbrenner ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Wesley Chapel 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Warriors, who until this match were averaging 2.33 runs allowed.
Steinbrenner also got a great performance from Lilly Patton as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophie Luaces, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jenna Fortenberry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Steinbrenner, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Both Mitchell and Steinbrenner just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Steinbrenner struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits.
