Softball Recap: Hector Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last six games, Hector finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They came up short against the Atkins Red Devils, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

Hector saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarena Myers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Myers is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hector fell to 6-1. As for Atkins, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hector will challenge Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Atkins will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Perryville at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Perryville is on a six-game streak of home wins, Atkins a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
