Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Joseph Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the West Nassau Warriors by a score of 8-4. That's more bragging rights for the Flashes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Carlos Willis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Dayton Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

St. Joseph Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for West Nassau, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Academy will host Menendez at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Nassau, they are taking a road trip to square off against Fernandina Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fernandina Beach's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so West Nassau's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
