Baseball Recap: Crestview Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Crestview got themselves on the board against Central Christian on Monday, but Central Christian never followed suit. They blew past the Comets 6-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Drew Spoerr was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Crestview got a big performance out of Kayn Patton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The Cougars are undefeated when Patton posts two or more runs, but 6-13 otherwise. Landon Fulk was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Crestview's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crestview will challenge Lucas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Central Christian, they will take on Rittman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
