Soccer Game Preview: Ardrey Kell vs. South Point

The Ardrey Kell Knights are taking a road trip to take on the South Point Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ardrey Kell comes in on five and South Point on 12.

Ardrey Kell had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the nine-goal drubbing they dealt Olympic on Thursday. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand the Trojans a 9-0 shutout. Ardrey Kell might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Olympic from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Rhyan Winnek led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, South Point made sure to put some goals up on the board against Huss on Friday. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 9-0 win. South Point's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six matches.

South Point's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven games. As for Ardrey Kell, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3-4.

Ardrey Kell skirted past South Point 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
