Soccer Recap: GlenOak Comes Up Short

Despite a strong season so far, GlenOak has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Perry Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as GlenOak came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Perry are ranked 174th).

GlenOak's goal came courtesy of Payton Bowman, who's now up to five this season.

GlenOak's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1. As for Perry, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. GlenOak will venture away from home to face off against Elyria at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. GlenOak will be up against Elyria's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.11 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Perry, they will head out on the road to challenge Alliance at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
