Newark Charter School had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Wilmington Charter Force by a score of  7-3  on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Logan Matthews tossed a big game,   pitching five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Doron Griffin was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.  Sean Luxton was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Wilmington Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newark Charter School will venture away from home to  challenge Delaware Military Academy  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Wilmington Charter, they will head out to  face off against Hodgson Vo-Tech  at 3:45  p.m.  on Tuesday.
