Football Recap: Ripon Christian Starts Season with Win Against Summerville + How To Watch

Ripon Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They strolled past the Summerville Bears with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Knights were the (much) better team in the second half.

Ripon Christian can attribute much of their success to Mason Tameling, who threw for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 206 passing yards gave Tameling a new career-high. A healthy portion of Tameling's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Amos Cady, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Ripon Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mason Clark.

Ripon Christian and Summerville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Knights will square off against Le Grand at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (256 vs. 691). Meanwhile, Summerville (ranked 355th) will meet Denair (ranked 849th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
