Basketball Recap: Christ Church Episcopal Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryan Hunt and Sophia Mahfood

Christ Church Episcopal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 43-33 to the Carolina Academy Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-51 last Friday.

Christ Church Episcopal's loss came despite strong showings from Sophia Mahfood and Ryan Hunt. Mahfood posted ten points and six steals, while Hunt went 7 of 15 en route to 14 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Hunt a new career-high in points. Sydney Shaw also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Christ Church Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Carolina Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-13.

Christ Church Episcopal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-40 defeat against Southside Christian on the 29th. As for Carolina Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Powdersville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Powdersville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Carolina Academy likes a good challenge.
