Baseball Recap: Smyrna Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Milford

Smyrna faced Milford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles fell 7-3 to the Buccaneers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Liam Conway was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Ridgeway, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Smyrna is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. As for Milford, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Smyrna will square off against St. Mark's at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Milford, they will challenge Polytech at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
