Softball Game Preview: Marfa Shorthorns vs. Ira Bulldogs

Marfa hasn't had much luck against Ira recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Shorthorns will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Marfa has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marfa is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season last Tuesday. They came up short against Westbrook, falling 12-6.

Meanwhile, Ira lost 16-2 to Westbrook on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ira saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Presley Smith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. Ella Robertson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ira's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Marfa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Marfa suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to Ira in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can the Shorthorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
