Baseball Game Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Wakeland Wolverines

The Lovejoy Leopards will square off against the Wakeland Wolverines on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lovejoy 2.4, Wakeland 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lovejoy heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They came up short against Midlothian Heritage, falling 6-0. The Leopards' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Wakeland entered their tilt with Corsicana on Saturday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 7-2.

Wakeland's win bumped their record up to 29-6. As for Lovejoy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 29-6.

Everything went Lovejoy's way against Wakeland when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Lovejoy made off with a 9-2 victory. Will the Leopards repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
