League recap: Salesian climbs in state rankings

Santa Fe recap October 1, 2013

Salesian scaled the state rankings by moving to 226 from 303 this week, the biggest jump in Santa Fe. The Mustangs were able to move up by topping Whittier Christian 54-24.

Salesian took down the Heralds 54-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Alonzell Henderson was a force in the backfield as St. Genevieve topped Heritage Christian.

Henderson was a passing and rushing force as the Valiants defeated the Warriors.

Jake Hooper put up the best numbers through the air as St. Anthony lost to Western Christian. He had a total of 14 completions for 139 yards. Hooper's favorite target this week was Kevin Jackson, who caught 7 passes for 77 yards.

The Saints' Hooper and Jackson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hooper has thrown for 1,065 yards this season, while Jackson has 23 catches for 421 yards. St. Genevieve's Matthew Cecil leads the league in rushing yards with 470.

Brent Huff's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on Heritage Christian. Henderson ran for 215 yards during the win.
