Recap: Sulphur Bluff Bears vs. Trenton Tigers
The Sulphur Bluff Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Trenton.
Despite the loss, Sulphur Bluff saw an underclassman step up: Zaylee Peyton scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Emerson Fite, who scored 3 points along with 9 rebounds.
Sulphur Bluff has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Trenton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sulphur Bluff will take on Sulphur Springs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sulphur Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sulphur Bluff in Texas (Sulphur Springs is ranked 82nd, while Sulphur Bluff is ranked 1215th). Trenton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wolfe City at 5:00 p.m. on December 12th.
