Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Highlands Owls, falling 47-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Owls: they've now lost five in a row.

Highlands' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Jackson, who posted 11 points. That's the most points Jackson has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaylynn Fematt, who earned 11 points and three steals.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 14-21. As for Highlands, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-17.

Jefferson will face off against Burbank at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Burbank's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 matchups. As for Highlands, they will challenge Seguin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
