Softball Game Preview: Harford Tech Cobras vs. Elkton Golden Elks

The Harford Tech Cobras will square off against the Elkton Golden Elks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harford Tech hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Harford Tech turned things around against Havre de Grace on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warriors 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cobras have posted since March 16, 2024.

The result came thanks to Mikayla McJilton's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Harford Tech saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Strong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Elkton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Bohemia Manor, falling 13-3.

The victory got Harford Tech back to even at 7-7. As for Elkton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Harford Tech beat Elkton 4-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cobras since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
