Baseball Recap: Western Comes Up Short

Western extended their losing streak to 16 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-18 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the La Quinta Aztecs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aztecs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in March.

As for La Quinta, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.25 runs across that stretch.

For La Quinta's part, Anthony Gomez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gomez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Ray Solis was incredible, going 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: La Quinta beat Western by a score of 13-2 on Friday.
