Fairfield lost to Pinole Valley back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Falcons blew past the Spartans 15-5. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Trustin Mitchell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Mitchell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Donavan Luu was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tristen Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Fairfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinole Valley only managed six hits.
Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Pinole Valley, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-9-1.
Coming up, Fairfield will welcome Johnson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Pinole Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against El Cerrito at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
