Football Recap: Mayfair Takes a Loss

Mayfair extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 6-13. They were dealt a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Warren Bears. The Monsoons lost against the Bears in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 27-12 score last time.

As for Warren, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Warren can attribute much of their success to Isabella Gonzalez, who threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Gonzalez racked up 118.3 passer rating, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Jocelyn Escobar did her part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 93 receiving yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfair will challenge Downey at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 6.6 points per game this season, so the Monsoons' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Warren, they will square off against Paramount at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
