Baseball Recap: Benjamin Triumphs

Benjamin got themselves on the board against Suncoast on Thursday, but Suncoast never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers, sneaking past 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

Thomas Harris looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Benjamin's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Benjamin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Rubin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Logan Buchanan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Benjamin now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Suncoast, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benjamin will square off against Royal Palm Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Suncoast, they will be playing at home against Forest Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
