Baseball Recap: Estacada Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gladstone, Estacada was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Crook County Cowboys. The win was some much needed relief for the Rangers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Connor Abbott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Estacada is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Abbott was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Liam Johnston was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Estacada's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-7-1. As for Crook County, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Estacada will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cowboys: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
