Volleyball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus was the 2-0 winner over St. Joseph when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. Cardinals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Flyers since Saturday.

Columbus started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-21, 25-11.

Among those leading the charge was Syler Sullivan, who had eight digs and four aces. Those four aces gave her a new career-high.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for St. Joseph, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Schulenburg on the 16th. As for St. Joseph, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Victoria West on the 16th.
