Basketball Recap: Greater Vision Academy Lions vs. Winston-Salem Christian Lions
After a string of six wins, the Greater Vision Academy Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Winston-Salem Christian by a score of 82-79. Greater Vision Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the loss, Greater Vision Academy had strong showings from Johntez Raspberry, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, and Titus Tucker, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Raspberry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Greysen McCadden, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Greater Vision Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Winston-Salem Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Vision Academy will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Winston-Salem Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warriors on February 6th.
