Football Recap: Live Oak Classical Takes a Loss

Live Oak Classical scored first but ultimately less than Mercy Culture Prep in their matchup on Saturday. They came up short against the Royals, falling 29-9. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

A big part of Mercy Culture Prep's win came down to the chemistry between Gage Seely and his top target Walker Hughes. Seely threw for 125 yards and a pair of TDs while Hughes picked up 48 receiving yards and two scores. Mercy Culture Prep is undefeated when Hughes posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Live Oak Classical has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Mercy Culture Prep, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Coming up, Live Oak Classical will be playing in front of their home fans against Legacy Prep Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mercy Culture Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
