Softball Game Preview: E.D. White Cardinals vs. Riverside Academy Rebels

E.D. White hasn't had much luck against Riverside Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. E.D. White is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.

E.D. White came out on top against Ascension Catholic on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shelbee Gros made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, BriLynn Arabie and Gabrielle Barrios did most of the damage at the plate: Arabie went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Barrios went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two hits gave Arabie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sara Coddu, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

E.D. White hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Riverside Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Lutcher on Thursday and fell 4-3. The Rebels have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

E.D. White's record is now 19-3. As for Riverside Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

E.D. White beat Riverside Academy 8-3 in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
