Basketball Recap: Decatur Community Comes Up Short

Decatur Community was the 52-37 winner over Greeley County when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Decatur Community Red Devils were dealt a 69-34 loss at the hands of the Greeley County Jackrabbits on Friday. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Decatur Community's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Ostmeyer, who went 7 of 16 to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds. Ostmeyer has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Shaw, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Decatur Community's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Greeley County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Decatur Community will challenge Norton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greeley County, they will take on Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Greeley County likes a good challenge.
