The West Lafayette Red Devils will take on the Logansport Berries at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Lafayette 3.6, Logansport 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
West Lafayette is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Peru. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Molly Mansfield made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs.
In other batting news, West Lafayette let Eleanor Hurt and Kerrigan Gooden run wild. Hurt went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Gooden went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Raegan Miller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Logansport waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 21 straight wins... but they left with 22. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 5-0 shutout. Give the Berries' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Like West Lafayette, Logansport also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklynn Hagerty. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Those 20 strikeouts gave Hagerty a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Risley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Evie Kitchel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
West Lafayette's record now sits at 14-6. As for Logansport, their record is now 23-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Lafayette has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Logansport struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
West Lafayette came up short against Logansport in their previous meeting on Thursday, falling 4-0. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
