Basketball Recap: Ganesha Comes Up Short

Ganesha extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Baldwin Park Braves. The Giants lost against the Braves in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 66-35 score last time.

As for Baldwin Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points over those games.

Eric Avila was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-22 on his way to 31 points along with five boards and three steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ganesha will square off against Azusa at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Baldwin Park, they will challenge El Monte at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
