Baseball Recap: Benzie Central Comes Up Short

Benzie Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Frankfort Panthers, falling 11-4. Huskies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Panthers since Tuesday.

Lane Sanchez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Benzie Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise. Sanchez was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Sanchez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Osborne, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Benzie Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Frankfort, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Benzie Central will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frankfort, they are taking a road trip to square off against Brethren at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
