Basketball Game Preview: Harlan Hawks vs. Jordan Warriors

Two dominant guards in Josiah Jones and Jaden Holt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Harlan Hawks will square off against the Jordan Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Harlan sitting on ten straight wins and Jordan on nine.

Harlan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Stony Point 75-73. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Hawks were down 46-32 in the second quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harlan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jones, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mangum, who scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, Jordan and Shadow Creek (ranked 73rd and 35th in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match on Friday. Jordan narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Shadow Creek 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since December 13, 2024.

Harlan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.5 points over those games. As for Jordan, their victory bumped their record up to 34-3.

Harlan came out on top in a nail-biter against Jordan when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 58-56. Will Harlan repeat their success, or does Jordan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
