Basketball Game Preview: Tongue River Eagles vs. Moorcroft Wolves

The Tongue River Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Moorcroft Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tongue River has 27 straight wins, Moorcroft has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Tongue River is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Wright 72-43. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Moorcroft ended up a good deal behind Big Horn on Saturday and lost 54-35.

Tongue River will have to keep a close watch on London McCrea and Talia Vargas, a pair of players who had a big impact on Moorcroft's prior game. McCrea went 7-for-15 to rack up 20 points and four steals, while Vargas posted five points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 57.1% of Moorcroft's points, marking the third time in a row McCrea has had more than a third of the team's points.

Tongue River pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points over those games. As for Moorcroft, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

Everything came up roses for Tongue River against Moorcroft in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 69-24 win. In that game, Tongue River amassed a halftime lead of 37-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
