Baseball Recap: Granger Takes a Loss

Granger extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-9. They came up short against the Hillcrest Huskies, falling 14-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 on Monday.

Max Pace was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Granger is 2-1 when Pace posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise.

As for Hillcrest, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

On Hillcrest's side, Luis Villasmil was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those six stolen bases gave Villasmil a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

While Granger had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
