Baseball Game Preview: South Rowan Raiders vs. East Rowan Mustangs

The South Rowan Raiders will challenge the East Rowan Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Rowan barely beat Central Cabarrus the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. South Rowan never let Central Cabarrus get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Meanwhile, East Rowan waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-6 win. East Rowan's victory was all the more impressive since the Wildcats were averaging only three runs allowed on the season.

East Rowan let Mason Phelps and Josiah Ninteau run wild. Phelps scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Ninteau went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave Ninteau a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Ketchie, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: East Rowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

South Rowan's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for East Rowan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

South Rowan might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from East Rowan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can South Rowan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
