Columbus East takes loss despite strong efforts from Carter Patterson and Keaton Lawson

Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Mooresville Pioneers

The Columbus East Olympians pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mooresville. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (56), Columbus East still had to take the loss.

Columbus East's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keaton Lawson, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Carter Patterson who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bumbalough, who scored five points.

Mooresville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyronne Elmore, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Aj Defur was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Columbus East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Mooresville, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Columbus East will head out on the road to take on Jeffersonville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Jeffersonville's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Columbus East has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Mooresville will take on Plainfield at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.6 points per game.
