Basketball Recap: Diego Carranza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Patagonia over Tombstone

Patagonia was the 61-46 winner over Tombstone when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Patagonia Lobos fell just short of the Tombstone Yellow Jackets by a score of 51-49 on Monday. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Patagonia lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Diego Carranza, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Carranza has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kannon Shore, who posted ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Patagonia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Patagonia's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Tombstone, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-15.

Patagonia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-43 defeat against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on the 28th. Tombstone has also already played their next game, a 61-52 loss against Santa Rita on the 28th.
