Baseball Recap: Vineland Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Deptford on Saturday, Vineland came back down to earth. The Fighting Clan fell 4-1 to the St. Augustine Prep Hermits on Tuesday. The Fighting Clan were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hermits apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Jake Garton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

Vineland's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for St. Augustine Prep, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-3-1.

While Vineland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
