Basketball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Albia Blue Demons

The Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Albia Blue Demons on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Prairie City-Monroe blew past South Tama County, posting a 56-28 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Trojans are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Albia humbled Davis County with a 67-27 victory. The Blue Demons have beaten the Mustangs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.

Prairie City-Monroe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points over those games. As for Albia, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.

Prairie City-Monroe took their victory against Albia in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 59-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prairie City-Monroe since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
