Canyon Springs hasn't had much luck against Virgin Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Canyon Springs will venture away from home to take on Virgin Valley at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Canyon Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Chaparral, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Canyon Springs put the hurt on Chaparral with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kenny Castro made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Castro was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Canyon Springs got a massive performance out of Isaiah Rogers, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave Rogers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cruz Monroy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
Canyon Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Virgin Valley came into Monday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Boulder City by a score of 4-1 on Monday.
The team relied heavily on Cade Litzenberger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Canyon Springs' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Virgin Valley, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canyon Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Virgin Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canyon Springs suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to Virgin Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Canyon Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
