Basketball Recap: Sutton Takes a Loss

Sutton was the 49-33 winner over Thayer Central when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sutton Mustangs fell just short of the Thayer Central Titans by a score of 48-45 on Friday.

Sam Souerdyke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thayer Central, putting up 25 points and four steals. Souerdyke's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Tegon Hergott was another key player, scoring ten points and eight boards.

Sutton's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Thayer Central, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Sutton will take on Ravenna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sutton is facing Ravenna at the right time seeing as Ravenna is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Thayer Central has already played their next game, a 67-47 defeat against Milford on the 18th.
