Basketball Recap: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks
If Omaha Central was feeling good fresh off their 81-54 takedown of Lincoln High last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Omaha Central Eagles and the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks didn't end well, with the Omaha Central Eagles falling 73-58. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Silver Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Omaha Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evan Rodgers en route to 17 points. Braylon Owens was another key player, putting up nine points and eight boards.
Uzziah Sanders was his usual excellent self, on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds for Lincoln Southwest. The team also got some help courtesy of Makkiah Sanders, who to rack up 17 points and four steals.
Omaha Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Lincoln Southwest, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Looking ahead, Omaha Central is taking a road trip to challenge Papillion-LaVista at 5:15 p.m. on March 1st. Papillion-LaVista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Omaha Central likes a good challenge. Lincoln Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
