The Head-Royce Jayhawks will head out on the road to take on the University Red Devils at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Head-Royce's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so University's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Head-Royce fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Albany on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 8-7. The Jayhawks' defeat signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Kaden Choi was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kento Tsuji also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, University had just enough and edged out Saint Mary's 8-6 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.
Leo Felder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Jett Messenger was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mattie Grisso was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
University's record now sits at 7-1. As for Head-Royce, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Head-Royce has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Head-Royce took their win against University in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Head-Royce since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
