Basketball Recap: Ponte Vedra Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ponte Vedra can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Booker T. Washington Wildcats and fell 55-20. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 22nd).

Jocelyn Hoffmann was Ponte Vedra's leading scorer, having posted five points. Arden Doherty took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Booker T. Washington found their leader in freshman Jada Clardy, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Clardy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Mi'Kel Bonner was another key player, going 6-for-8 on her way to 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Ponte Vedra and nudges their season record down to 13-13. As for Booker T. Washington, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Ponte Vedra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Booker T. Washington, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Booker T. Washington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
