Basketball Recap: Calhoun City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palmer last Tuesday, Calhoun City came back down to earth. The Calhoun City Wildcats received a blow on Thursday as they fell 47-29 to the Bruce Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-36 back in December of 2024.

Leading Bruce to victory were Laken Corbit and A'Toria Knox. Corbit dropped a double-double on 12 points and 20 rebounds, while Knox posted 22 points and six rebounds. Those 20 rebounds gave Corbit a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ca'Laiah Shackelford, who earned four points and six rebounds.

Calhoun City's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Bruce, their record is now 9-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun City will welcome Independence at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bruce, they will host Houlka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
