Volleyball Recap: Hurricane Takes a Loss

Hurricane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chaparral Cowboys.

Carter Kane paced Hurricane's offense, picking up six kills. Kane got some help from Kasey Kearney and his 14 assists. Finally, Davin Larson kept Hurricane's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Chaparral's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Pierce led the charge by getting 16 kills, eight digs, three aces, and one block. Pierce has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 52 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Liam Bade, who had ten kills and two aces.

Hurricane's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.

Hurricane didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on the 19th. As for Chaparral, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 19th.
