Baseball Recap: Mayfield Takes a Loss

Mayfield couldn't beat Hudson on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Wildcats lost 13-6 to the Explorers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Explorers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Mayfield got a good showing from Andrew Rigelsky, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Mayfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Brunello, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Brunello's first of the season.

Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Hudson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Mayfield will welcome Lake Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hudson, they will venture away from home to face off against Stow-Munroe Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
