Basketball Recap: Stuart Falls Short of Elgin/Pope John in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Stuart can now relate to. They fell 55-44 to the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack on Tuesday. The Broncos' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Tubbs, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 10 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Estill, who posted eight points.

Elgin/Pope John got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jarek Erickson out in front who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Erickson's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Karson Kallhoff, who went 6-for-12 en route to 16 points.

Stuart's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Elgin/Pope John, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Stuart didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-45 win against Diller-Odell on the 1st. As for Elgin/Pope John, they have also already played their next contest, a 44-28 defeat against St. Mary's on the 27th.
